Data Synchronization

The Synchronization tool allows users to merge data from and two Data Manager databases.

This tools makes it simple to allow separate users to enter data at their individual computers, and later merge that data into a local field database or central server database.

Synchronization is accomplished by following these simple steps:

1.Click the 'Synchronize Databases' button from the 'Home' tab.

2.Follow along the steps in the Wizard. The steps in the Wizard are:

1)Choose whether to synchronize with a local database or, if a server database is set up, with that server database.

2)Select the second database to synchronize with (if not synchronizing to a server database)

3)Select the Synchronization Method (bi-directional, or one directional)

3)Choose which Jobs to synchronize

IMPORTANT: Data Manager uses a records-based synchronization that accepts the most recently changed record as the priority. It is important to ensure that only 1 user is making changes to any single test record. For example, only 1 test technician enters the test data and finalizes the data collection form. The Reviewer can then synchronize the data and make any adjustments to the data once the synchronization has been completed.

NOTE: Data Manager Synchronization can check for any conflicting records where changes were made to the same record in both databases by different users. If you choose this option, you will be presented with these conflicts and given the opportunity to correct the conflicts.
